I was drifting north in my homemade hot air balloon trying to decided just where to visit next when I looked down and saw a BIG! and I mean BIG! lake. Definitely not like the ponds we have back home! I was so excited that I decided to stop and explore this exciting looking place. Two of our great countries major rivers meet here, the Mississippi River and the Ohio River. Most of this wonderful place used to be prairie...not so any more. Now it is home to a place people call the Windy City. Boy what a big city it is...I nearly got lost!! YIKES!!! Its not all flat land around here though if you head toward the southern end of the state you might run across a hilly place called the Shawnee National Forest. Did I mention that you can visit a home of one our former Presidents?
