Wait, the earth has lines running through it?

No, no, no. Not In reality. However, maps often have these little lines drawn vertically and horizontally on it. One of these imaginary lines is one you might be familiar with: the equator.
The other lines that run parallel to the equator are called latitude.
But wait! What about those other lines that intersect? Those are called longitude, or meridians. The center meridian is called the prime meridian, which connects both poles.

So, what exactly is Geography?

Geography is a combination of two Greek words, "geo" and "graphy", which mean "earth" and "description". So, Geography basically means describing earth. This includes the study of land, water, atmosphere and population. The study of Geography is split up into two main fields, which are physical and human. Physical Geography involves the study of landforms, climate, and water. You can find some great information on Physical Geography at this site. Human Geography, on the other hand, investigates the interactions between humans and the environment. This is only the introduction to a series of posts that will go into even greater detail. Be sure to download the Kids Discover Geography app to learn more.

Book review! Book review! A cat hero!

Recently, I read the movie novelization of Puss in BootsIn the story, puss, an outlaw, tries to clear his name. Along the way, he meets the attractive feline kitty softpaws, and reunites with his "brother", Humpty Alexander Dumpty. Together they steal the golden goose to save puss' hometown, San Ricardo, from loss of gold. Will they be able to save the village? And will puss be able to clear his name?
I would recommend this book for anyone who likes cats, eggs, and of course, heroic deeds. I give this book four paws.

Book Review! Book Review! The Muppets The Movie Junior Novel

Recently, I read the movie junior novel of The Muppets. In the story, the three friends, Mary, Gary and Walter travel to LA (Las Angeles) to reunite the muppets. All that becomes difficult because an evil oil baron wants to destroy them. In order to win their studio back, the muppets must raise $1,000,000. Will they be able to get their studio back?

From reading this book, you will find that there are major differences from the actual movie. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes performances, funny puppets, and of course, the muppets. I give this book 4 paws!
